2004 Jamis Dakar XLT 1.0 Frame, Cane Creek Zero Stack Headset, Deore front Der. With Manitou Swinger 3way Air Shock. Kinesium Triple Butted Aluminum Tubes with cartridge bearing pivots. Replaceable dropout, Int. standard disc mounts.

what do you guys think should i go for it?

It looks like a big step up from 2005 trek Y26. Is it worth it??

Here is a link to the bike on the Jamis web site. http://www.jamisbikes.com/bikes/04_xlt1.html

Here is a link to the reviews on mtbr, they look pretty good. http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/xc_full_suspension/product_123105.shtml

The complete bike sold for $1600. If the frame is in good shape and fits I would have to say go for it. Jamis makes some great bikes.

If it is your size then I would say go for it, as long as you want a cross country, all mountain type bike that is.

well, if it's new, and the right size, I think 300 smackers is a great price for a full suspension frame of that quality, especially considering it comes with the headset, and front derailur and shock, I'd buy it.

The only thing I don't like is the Zero Stack headset. You'd be stuck with it unless you had a Chris King Peridio (http://www.chrisking.com/headsets/hds_perdido.html) installed which wouldn't be cheap and requires special tools (and some one competent to use them). I've never been a fan of integrated headsets but other than that $300 isn't unreasonable although I'd make sure to have it checked out BEFORE you buy

apparently this frame is from smartcycles.com, i saww the ad online in mtbr.com, i talked to the guys at the website and they received a whole bunch of them at wholesale, they were for sale for $450 dollars until the 2005 came in which is on sale for $500. They had one more 17 so i had to take it. Ill soon be onthe hunt for some new stuff. So Raiyn, did i do a good job? Much better than the Y26 right? Its been about 6 months with the y26 and still no problems. I started at 257 lb, know im at 228lbs. About 5 pounds a month, not bad huh?

Red bikes are faster, black bikes are stronger.

i have a zero stack. i open it every so often and ball bearings go on the floor :( i got better bearings, hoping they'll do better as this is my only choice for a headset.

Ok, shopping time, im going to be rather patient on this part because i do have another bike. What should i shop for first? I was looking at the manitou splice super for a fork. 200 bucks sounds good. What do you guys think for a fork? Also transmission. I want to make the bike nice but not proffesional, i dont want to spend 1,000 bucks on parts. Is this reasonable?

For cranks I would look at some of the Truvativ ISIS drive stuff. I payed 95 bucks for my Stylo Teams, I could not be happier. Since SRAM acquired them, i seem to have a difficult time finding the Stylo's for sale though that are not gxp.
