I'm planning to go to Massachusetts in August and I'd like to ride out to Horseneck Beach. However, I've read that the road out there, Route 88, has signs prohibiting bicycles -- or did at one time. Does anyone know if that is still the case?
Thanks.
I don't know that it has signs prohibiting bicycles, but it is in any case a very straight, narrow, very high-speed road. We're talking a two-lane road with a divider on which drivers don't hesitate to drive at 70 mph. I don't know the area well enough to tell you about a back way down to Horseneck beach (I actually live on the New Hampshire border when I'm not in Amherst!), but I would recommend an alternate route if you possibly find one, whether bicycles are allowed or not.
