I have a set of CrossMax wheels. I am thinking about stans-ing the rims so that I can run lighter non tubeless tires. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any reasons why I shouldn't do this? Thanks.

I'm trying it right now with a set of Kenda Nevegals. Make sure you follow the Stan's directions and be prepared to have to reinflate the tires after a couple of days to a week if you aren't riding it, or everytime you ride if you are riding it more often. It isn't as easy as running a UST tire-I was amazed at the number of leaks that got filled during the inital inflation. One tire worked OK from the start and the other had to be redone to get it to hold air for over a couple of hours. The tires work great, but I am seriously thinking of getting the Bontrager "tubless ready" tires for the next set.
I have been using Stan's for over two years now and have no desire to try anything else. I haven't used it on the Crossmax rims though, I do know a lot of people that have and they have been very succesful. Most tires do a great job. I have used Panaracer Pro XC's, Tioga Red Phoenix, several continental's and a few other tires here and there with very little to no problems. The only tires I would stay away from are Kenda's. According to their sales rep they should not be used with Stan's sealant. They will work fine for a little while but something in the Stan's actually breaks down the rubber that Kenda uses. I was very dissapointed when I found this out since my next set of tires was going to be Kenda Karmas.

Do you mean converting your non UST Xmax to UST using Stan's?
I use Stan's as a sealer on my UST Xmax and works a bit better than with Slime but have no experience using the No Tubes system (all my mtb wheels are UST).
A friend uses his UST Xmax with regular tires and Stan's, so far he has been successful at that.

You should be OK, my friend rides Kenda and Specialized non UST tires on his UST wheels with Stans.
