Training & Nutrition - Long Ride Food and Snacks
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
What are some of your tips that you use for long distance riding for food and nutrition? What are some good freezing foods? some tips that i would include are:
frozen Penut butter and jelly sandwich (helps keep fresher longer)
of course gues and powerbars (powerbars make me too thirsty)

Don't forget the good ol' Banana. I also have musli bars (Cheap, and they work)
You might try ...
-- fig newtons (or other kinds of newtons)
-- cereal bars
-- granola bars
-- Sunripe fruit bars
-- dried fruit
-- various packaged pastries
-- small bag of potato chips or pretzels
-- small bag of other nuts (almonds, cashews)
-- bagal cut up into bite-sized pieces and placed in a baggie
-- canned or powdered Ensure
And if you still want to use energy bars, you might take a look at Peak products: http://www.peakbar.com/
For a long ride, don't think so much about what you can carry, think instead of where you might be able to get food along the way ... restaurants, convenience stores, etc.
