ok, it's me again........... trying to buy a new bike!

I've looked at 'em all........ narrowed down my choices to Jamis or Trek.

Went to the store that sells Jamis to "try it out again," and the owner and I got to talking more at length. I guess she really is a nice lady. Now that she knows I am serious about joining a bike group she's prob. thinking she'll have more biz from me in the future.

Am thinking that sticking with this shoppe will be the BEST bc so far she's treated me the BEST, and seems very interested in my future, not only in biking but as her customer.

Well I went in to talk about ordering the Jamis for me, and she steered me in the direction of Bianchi. I-yi-yi.

She didn't have the size I needed, but said she felt I'd be more happy in the long run with a Bianchi for only a few bucks more.

She's ordering it in for me, w no obligation to purchase.

Help! Good choice?

Bianchi > jamis/trek

Treks are as common as toyota corollas. Definitley no sex appeal.

Which Bianchi? I rode a Bianchi Strada for a couple of years, it's a flat-handlebar, entry-level road bike. I think they also make a drop-bar version called the Brava. Perfectly fine for casual riding. Not as nice as the made-in-Italy, high-end Bianchi's, but reasonably priced with decent components.

(Edit: I just realized, you're talking about a bike called the Advantage. Don't know anything about it. Bianchi has a reputation for making great bikes, but that's probably one of their entry-level, made-in-Taiwan bikes. Nothing wrong with that. If you catch the cycling bug, you'll probably want to upgrade to something better in a year or two.)

I think "advantage" was just part of the thread title, not a model.

I have an older Bianchi Brava and I love it.

Bianchis are definitely good althought I don't know if their quality is better (or worse for that matter) than Trek. More common doesn't mean not as good...
