I bike alot now that it is summer and i have a friend that likes to come along, but he only has his Mt. bike and no slicks. This makes it very hard for him to keep up(plus it is killing his knobs). so my question is this:

I go to the swap shop a lot, looking on ebay and have find some nice $200 - 300 road bikes that are a bit old. They look to be in good shap and all. So should my friend just go out and get some slicks or try out a nice old steel road? (I ask this because his Mt.bike is about 28 or so Ib.)

Thank you for your help.

Jared
