Hey all, nice forum. Newbie XC racer here from Northern CA. After a long process, I just built my first FS race bike (long-time hardtail rider) here's my specs
'02 Specialized FSR M5 frame medium
XTR R-Der
LX F-Der (anyone else think this is the best out there? i certainly perfer it)
XTR shift pods
Race Face Turbine Crank w/Time ATAC pedals
XT Cassette
Rock Shox Psylo 80/100
Fox Float RL lockout rear
XTR V-Brakes/Levers on CrossMax Tubeless wheelset
Hutchison Tubless
Easton Monkeylite bar w/RaceFace stem
Thompson Alum Seatpost
Selle Italia Gel Saddle
I got the bike down to 22.4 lbs and it runs great. I haven't competed with it yet...but in training, I'm able to achieve faster times at a heartrate that is consistently 5-6 bpm's lower.
All of my hold-ups about racing full-suspension are put to rest. As much as I love my old hardtail, I'm now converting it to a single speed trainer.
Anyone else race FS?
