My wife and I were planning to do a tour in Italy this Sep. but for a couple reasons we aborted and decided to fly to Geneva! I am an experienced cyclist (touring and otherwise) but she is not. I will also be towing my 1-year old in a trailer, so we will be keeping the mileage light -- ca. 35 miles a day (55km). I would like to find a route that allows me to go on my own for one or two longer ride (perhaps through a legendary alpine pass) but our main route probably shouldn't include the most grueling climbs.

We already had route plans and everything for our Italy tour, but now we are somewhat at a loss. Any route suggestions or ideas about places to visit would be most welcome. Oh, and I speak German and my wife speaks French and Spanish, so I don't anticipate huge language problems.

Thanks in advance for any help!
