ZZZZT. wrong Phil and Kev,

Newspapers are handed out at summits as INSULATORS against cold for the decent, and wood is not an excellent conductor of heat, it is an excellent insulator.

Well, l'Equipe is anyway. ;)

Did you see one rider who grabbed one of the green hands passed out by the caravan? They are thin foam or cardboard - probably even better.

I did a night-time bridges ride here in NYC once after commuting to work. I got unexpectedly cold... so I grabbed a free newspaper and stuffed it in my jersey. The "conductive" properties worked wonders. :D

(give 'em a break, they're cyclists, not scientists!)

"Hand me the classifieds. All that ink's... got to be warm."

That's a Kevin Costner line from Fandango. (1984)

Great movie.
