I'm thinking about replacing my handlebars with a riser one. But I noticed that the front brake cable was cut short enough that if I used riser bars, the brake/shifter levers would be placed a bit higher, so there might be problems with the front brake cable length (see picture). Will this really cause problems? Do I have to get a new cable?
A mild riser bar shouldn't be an issue with what you have

Okay, thanks. So how much rise should I look for in a handlebar? It's measured in mm. right?

Whatever's comfortable. Generally for MTB'ing they come in 1 inch and 1.5 inches (25.4 to 38.1 mm) I have both and they work fine for the bikes they're on

Thanks, man. I just got the riser bar, and it feels much better. Just rode about 5 kilometers today. :)

Good deal. What size did you get?

I'm not sure, there are no measurement marks on it. But I think it has a 1-inch rise. Turbolite brand.
