I've got a bit of a problem with a new CK Steelset I'm trying to fit, basically the top cap rubs the top cup at the front. I've checked that the bearings are seated properly, I've had the head tube faced and I've tried a few different stems on it, all to no avail.

The only thing I can think might be wrong is the head tube is bent, it's just plain guage chromoly, and not terribly thick (which is why I bought a steelset). Is it possible the headtube bent? I've checked for signs of misalignment between the cups and the frame but I can't see anything wrong.... what else could be wrong?

Did you bend the top cup when installing it by accident? This might have happened if you didn't use a headset cup-seating tool. CK has excellent customer support: www.chrisking.com/tech/tech_index.html

I doubt it, it's pretty hefty.

Oh yeah the fork steerer tube is fine and the race is properly seated, so it's not that.

Forget it, the head tube is bent/distorted/whatever.

Well that sucks

It does and it doesn't, my BMX is now fully loaded.

Head tube not faced perpendicular to its centerline? I'd get it checked before doing anything else.
