The other day while at work I found a Raleigh 12 speed in the basement of one our buildings. It is black, made in Canada with SunTour components and made with Tange 5 4130. Any clue what model it is?
Thanks
Gordon

Is there a serial number on it? Pictures might be quite helpful as well. Lots of black 12 speed Raleighs were made in Canada with SunTour components during the late 70's and 80's.

Yeah, but not that many had chrome-moly frames; that narrows the possibilities down some.
Take a close look at that tubing decal and read the fine print. Many of the entry level models used Tange #5 only for the seat tube. It was their way of getting a semi-prestigious tubing decal on the frame. Most people didn't look closely and thought the whole frame was CrMo. Hopefully yours is full #5, or at least the main triangle. BTW, is this an ATB or road model?

Thanks for the replies. It will be a few days before I am working at that programme again, so I’ll have another look at it and get the serial number then. I am sure the bike is mine for the asking and it may make a good fixie project for someone.
