Mountain Biking - ask

hello everybody, i came from hk, and i am nowing looking for some bike shop that at nyc(1-14st is the best) that sell kona bike, can anybody recommod me some bicycle shop?
and i want to ask the price of stinky and coiler dee-lux, too. can someone tell me or can any body suggest me a freeride bike not more than $1700us?

kona's site has msrp on all their bikes, i dont know any bike shops in nyc

it might be becasue the 2006 bikes are comming out and the bike shops might be marking up some 2005, at least that is happening over here. one shop is selling an epic at 1600.

So if you look up kona dealers on the website and you see a bike store that isn't listed then it won't sell Kona bikes.

Hey, If you're new to mountain biking, I suggest you get a frame that doesn't have rear suspension. The rigid frames are called Hardtails. There are such things as freeride hardtails, I'd suggest a Cowan or Stuff from Kona, P. series from Specialized or STP series from Giant.

Hardtails teach you how to ride the mountain and trails properly, as well as allowing you to jump with more snap, and let you perform urban stunts to impress a soon-to-be-gf ;). Just kidding, you don't get serious girlfriends that way (unless someone begs to differ). Anyways, dual suspension doesn't teach that as well, but it gives you the skill of learning to plow over things, which is harder than it looks in many cases, in my opinion.

However, hardtails are the learning bike, and they can be high performance as well, full suspensions aren't necessarily superiour to hardtails, it all depends on usage. If you're learning to freeride, I STRONGLY suggest using a hardtail. You get better parts, for the same price (since dual suspension frames are generally more expensive) and you get a GREAT learners bike, especially at 1700 USD, let alone 1000 USD.

Don't forget to ask for some free stuff, like a helmet or pump...etc.

As for king, then if you want anything in the kona line for freeride, then I must say Coiler, or Coiler Dee-Lux. Those two are the only bikes in the price range, heck, the dee lux is too high. However, if you wait until the end of the biking season, you can get some nice discounts as they clear out the bikes.

Kona makes really nice bikes, although they maybe lacking in the drivetrain department, getting a much better drivetrain at the price kona offers their bikes for, is hard.

Patience will get you the bike you want.

This forum is visited by THOUSANDS of people a day. Some are members, MOST of them are guests who are looking for someplace where they can ask a question and get an intelligent response. "I wud get dat b4 u 4get or ur gunna be srry thx" Is NOT an intelligent looking response no matter how correct the information (once translated) is.

You want others to respect your opinions? Type them so anyone can read them not just "ur homies" I don't expect perfect spelling and grammar. Hell half the time I ignore people who can't capitalize ( that irks me too).

This isn't a freaking text message that will be erased in 10 seconds. We will have people looking at these threads for YEARS down the road and therefore we need to provide information that is easily understood by even those with the barest undersatnding of English.
