Foo - Stuff that you cannot resist

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Now I can think of a couple of ways this thread can go wrong, so keep it clean ok?
This is about stuff you cant resist. You really cant explain why, you just can resist it.
For me its carbon fiber, I cant resist the stuff, for god sakes I have a carbon fiber sunglasses, now thats obsession.
Post stuff you cant resist, if this is considered spam delete it.

gadgets.
Seriously I'm a hardcore gadget nut. My last gadget purchase was a pair of SI-5 portable speakers...they are flat panel speakers that store in a space just larger than a double-cd case.
Before that was a hand-crank powered LED flashlight (1 min on the crank gives either 60mins on low or 20mins on high (low=1led, high=3led)).
Then sometime before that I bought a pair of creative travelsound speakers. They are super nice, nicer than the SI-5, but again....gadget factor....plus the SI-5 can actually give a real stereo image...
....basically me and gadgets is a recipe for empty wallets....I try my hardest to not buy the latest gizmo.

Model Steam Traction Engines. I've got loads of them, Mamod, Wilesco, Stuart etc. I've got just about every Mamod and most Wilesco's made and in some cases I've got duplicates. Very rarely 'fire' them up and only display a few, most are in storage.

Not much now a days. Bike stuff is the closest. I used to be a gadget guy, now I am anti gadgets. I used to be a techy guy, but now that I work with IT stuff, it bores me silly.I am hard pressed to think of something I can't resist...my girlfriend I suppose, but I don't have to pay for her :D

Well, I am not addicted to Bikeforums...yet. But I cannot resist Jolly Ranchers, and I rarely pass up Oreos if I can get them.

Mp3 players. I bought the first one ever made from Korea -- it played CDs with MP3s on them, no ID3 tag display, would randomly reject every other disc. Thought it was amazing. I ran through a series of three CD-based mp3 players and wore them out. I have a rather ancient flash-based one for running, a CD-based one, and a HD-based one. I rip my CDs as soon as I get them and store the CDs in a safe place (started that after my friend drove off with his CD case on top of his car.) I'm a sucker for books on tape and podcasting. I dunno -- I just like having new thoughts running through my head. If you've got a good library near you, see if they have any courses on CD from "The Teaching Company" about things you find interesting. Their history of science one is good, as is their astronomy one. I've even thought about, when I finish school and get a job, enrolling in a distance learning class or two and listening to the lectures on the mp3 player while I run and bike and lift. Neat, eh?

heh I know hte feeling, I had a rio 32mb player and through many more until I stopped with my creative zen (I would go iRiver if I could do it over though).
That's also what all the portable speakers are about....I still have to find one that doesn't suck in one way or another....the Travelsound is teh closest to not sucking, but the SI-5 is just too cool....ahh I guess I'll never decide :p
