Armour, camleback, neck brace (quick moving heads to double take all the dirty girls) and your bike :)
Since you are only here one day, stick to whistler mountain, the valley has tonnes to offer, but its best left untouched unless you have more time ;)

4 hours ish
Bring a camera - it is beautiful there :) Well, you live in BC so you may be used to it, but compared to the east coast, it is stunning ;)

Terrain is a little different but I would assume similar in beauty. :)He is further east than us so his area is beginning to look more like idaho than the bc of the lower mainland :)

I was supposed to have a Whistler trip this summer. Alas, my friend flaked (I think he may have fallen off the face of the Earth because I haven't heard from him in months) and I won't be going to Whistler. :(
On the plus side though, it looks like I'll be heading off to Mammoth in a couple of weeks!

Ya I remember you mentioning it. To bad I would have like to give you the tour. I likely wouldn't have ridden xc with you (you would destroy me on hills I am sure) but I could at least point you in the right direction for some epic rides :) You seem a prime candidate for kill me thrill me to Comfortably Numb :)

I'll make it up there some time in the not too distant future but it probably won't be until next summer. By then, I hope to be mounted atop a nice, 6 inch travel, Santa Cruz Nomad since my riding is getting increasingly more aggressive. Since I'm a bigger rider anyway (195lbs), I'm not sure the extra 4-5 pounds on the bike is going to hurt my climbing all that much.

I doubt you would notice. I ride with some serious xc guys when they are doing the "lets go for a casual ride" days. They still smoke me (their casual xc ride is freaking work for me haha) But honestly a decent 6in with good valving and only 4 pounds more. I bet it will be fine. No xc race machine but thats the PERFECT build for whistler.

I'm not an XC racer anyway so that's out the window. I like to do the occasional 24hour race but I'm not in it to win it (my teams generally come in upper-middle of the pack), I'm in it for the fun of it!
Hopefully I'll be starting a new job here soon which will enable me to get a new ride. :D

You should try for the 24hour race in whistler. I should be riding it this year with the hotel I work at :)

2 Links to what you need. My buddy entered it last year as a solo. Very fun course (well as fun as 24hours on a bike can be)
