DO Nalgene Bottles really stop the taste of various liquids from permeating into the plastic? Has anyone got experience using one of these bottles?

I use them backpacking and sea kayaking. In my experience they do not pick up flavors/ odors. They are also extremely tough.

I use them all the time, they are the only bottles I use, i get them for $5.00 at LL bean. I use the ones with the crap caps to keep the road grime off the mouth piece. I can deal with the hinged cap with one hand and the water valves have o-ring seals so they don't leak and you won't pull your teeth out trying to open them.

The ones made of polycarbonate or lexan won't pick up odors, but the plastic ones will. They're not as bad as most though.
