Mountain Biking - Complete without fork??help!

ok so i've decided on buying a 2005 p.1 cromo....yet i have an 03 dj 1 sitting in my bedroom that JUST got back from warrenty, fully rebuilt...i want the p.1 cromo WITHOUT the fork, but the shops wont let me do that, unless i buy the complete bike and exchange the fork for an in-store value...i'd choose my dj 1 over the manitou stance static (which is on the bike) and this dj is perfectly fine, fully rebuilt from marzocchi! what do i do?

I would just get the bike and either put the stance on ebay or keep it as a back up in case you have any more problems with the dj 1.

Ask for some protective gear or lifetime supply of tubes or tools or any other component as an extra/spare.

Just buy the complete bike, put your fork on and sell the stock one. Easy.

i wouldnt put that fork on the p1. that bike is made for a very low axle to crown height fork, like the stance. the dj1 will hugely rake out the bike and make it ride very poorly, espeically with that. i'd get a regular p series bike if you want to run that big fork on it.

if im not mistaken, the 03 dj1's are 130mm forks. the stance on there is a very low 100mm fork, the dj is at least 2" taller. combine that with the 24" rear wheel and already slack 69* head angle, you'll have a bike thats pretty raked out. you may like it, but it wont ride like stock.

bah for the type of rididng youll be doing on that bike it will be fine
