I noticed on today's stage (Saturday) that the riders were keeping their helmets on all the way to the finish line. Has the rule about allowing riders to remove the helmets during the final climb of a stage that ends on a mountain top been changed?

Yes, that exception was eliminated for road stages.

Considering how crazy some of the fans are, that may not be a bad idea. Thanks for clarifying that. When did they revoke the option to remove the helmets? Was it at the beginning of the season? If so, I can't believe that I just noticed it now!

This is the first year.

They can still choose not to wear helmets in a mountain time trial.
