I saw the DVD just a few weeks ago... I thought it was quite good, myself.
I'm a big Scorsese fan, so... anything he does I think is great...
not to mention his long-time, under-appreciated editor (since Raging Bull), Thelma Schoonmaker.
As with most of his films, a great soundtrack, too:
Bach, Gershwin, Tchaikovsky...
Fats Waller, Django Reinhardt, and Leadbelly - great.
It was a long film, around 3 hours... but I was ready for more-
I wanted to see Hughes's life after he got really eccentric... :D

I thought the movie was good but I was very impressed by the acting. It was phenemenal. Especially Cate Blanchett and Kate Beckinsale. I thought the story could have flowed better but it was a very interesting story and Hughes life was very intriguing and a little odd. Overall Scorses did great.
