Mountain Biking - Do you wear sunglasses when you ride?

I guess I should also ask "do you like them?"

I'm thinking about getting some. Not sure which ones, would like to hear other people's experiences.

Yeah, I like them. Expensive, but very well made. I've also had the frames replaced a couple of times free of charge, so I'm happy with their customer service too.

The Minutes fit my face really well, so they don't let light in from the side, which really helps with contrast.

I'm thinking of wearing some since the sun does get in your eyes sometimes and dirt flicking in your eyes as well. I'm looking around for some Oakleys.

I wear Oakley half jackets and I love them. Very light weight and fit great. Another important selling point to me the lenses only take about 30 seconds to switch out. I have got the regular blue "ice" lenses that came with them for normal wearing and road riding along with the occasional trail ride. Then I have the pink lenses that I use for most of my trail riding, really bring out the roots and rocks of the trail. I also have clear lenses for them for night riding.

I wear contacts so riding without glasss is not really an option. Honestly, I couldn't imagine riding without some type of eye protection.

Especially at those times of day when the bugs start to get bad. My glasses have saved me from many a bug in my eyes.

I use ryders sunnies, they are about a third of the price of nikes or oakleys and came with 2 sets of lenses. From memory they were $79.95 and $25 per extra set of lenses. from memory the oakleys i looked at were $200+. At least now if i happen to scratch one of the lenses i know that not much money has been wasted :D

i own some cheap performance sunglasses, i figure i dont want my expensive glasses all sweated on and banged up with little bushes and stuff like that. Im happy with them for 22 bucks, came with case and three other lenses. I dont have the balls to use my 130 dollar glasses on the trail.

I snagged some zero-rh vertigos, they are pricey, but they rock, and they keep the wind out of my eyes better than most oakleys; a must on the road bike, and for anyone who wears contact lenses. After one bee-in-the-eye experience, you'll want the shades.

I have 1 pair shades that wrap around because it helps keep the wind out of my eyes and also the snow in the winter.
In summer I use them on trails only to make sure that limbs don't injure my eyes.
I actually hate wearing shades but I do it for safty
I have a pair of Lois Gar.... ( I forget the spelling) with replaceable lenses for dark days.

I have 3 pairs. They are just shooting glasses from ebay like $5 a pair. That way I'm not out anything if they scratch/break. They are really pretty good glasses. They don't fog on me and they don't let any light (or dirt) come in from the sides or underneath. I don't get a warranty but then again I didn't pay $100+ a pair so I'm happy. I almost never ride without glasses anymore. It just feels so much better on my eyes with them.

I have a pair of Maui Jim Sunsets.

The only problem is though, since they are polarized, glass and other things seem a little weird when they have tint, but sometimes you see more details then without them.

MEC Espresso's, but I'm exchanging them. The interchangable lenses come out a little too easily, they hold firm, but if you somehow put a lb of force on the tip of the lenses (think oakley m frame, almost the same look), then one side falls out, but it's all one lens, so the other side and the center holds the lens in. This ends up with me having to put the lens back in...*grumble* even if it's a 1 second ordeal.

I only use sunglasses to stop bugs going in my eyes. Aviators have the double bridge, which makes them more likely to survive a crash.

Any set of Smith Sliders. I wear the Empire, they come with 3 sets of lenses that you can swap out in seconds. Yellow, Brown, and Rose lenses are typically the lenses you get. The glasses never slide down my nose they stay in place until I take em off. Really durable frames too. My wife wears the Tifosi with changable lenses. They're are just as good and only about 50 bucks. They are a little harder to swap lenses though.

I think inexpensive is the word, not cheap. Wal-Mart sells cheap glasses, I've never had trouble with either pair of my Performance glasses. Interchangeable lenses, secure, solid frames and UV protection. what more do you need? I cannot fathom paying more for glasses unless they are polarized.

After a mud clot scratched my eye, I went out and bought the least expensive pair of Tifosi's I could find ($20). They're lightweight, don't fog up and come with 3 pair of interchangeable lenses (clear, orange and smoke).
I went cheap b/c they get scratched easily and I'd be ticked if I spent $50+ only to have them basically ruined within 6 months.

I use bolle Vanadium because I have perscription sunglasses. Its hard to find a good lense company that will shape perscription lenses to regular sunglassses like Oakley and I can't stand to wear contacts =)
These glasses have served me well though and I do recommend them.

I always wear clear lenses since I ride in the woods where sunlight is not a problem. My glasses happen to be Louis Graneau with changeable lenses, but that is unimportant. All that is important is how they fit.

Of course i do. A good pair of sunglasses will improve your ride a lot.

Right now I have a pair of Smith Frontline Max sunglasses with interchangeable lenses. The dark lenses are great for heavy sun, the amber lenses are good for general sun, and the yellow lenses are great for low-light conditions (like in heavy trees). The yellow lenses have the effect of providing high-contrast viewpoints, which doesn't always look realistic, but helps you differentiate between trail and trees.

www.steapandcheap.com offers them fairly frequently (they sell only one type of item at a time, but for an extremely heavy discount), so check the page at midnight, Mountain time, and wait for them. You can pick them up for around $30...they retail for $120. They have nearly flawless optics, and are designed specifically for cycling.

I have some tifosi czar's. They don't have the interchangable lens, but they seemed to work better as regular sunglasses than the ones that do. And I knew these would be my main sunglasses. Though now I have wished it wasn't always so dark on the trials at twilight in the shade with sunglasses.

I like em cheap. I always either loose or break sunglasses.

I'm fond of cheapo $11 amber fisheyes polarized sunglasses at Gander Mountain.

I'm also fond of $10 AOSafety glasses that I buy down at Lowes. These actually have pretty cool styling.

When I go out, I try to have a pair of sunglasses as well as a pair of clears. If dusk comes along, I still want eye protection.

I wear polarized sunglasses that cost about $9 at Wal-Mart. They cut down the glare, and protect my eyes from flying bugs. I've have to dig out many bugs from my eyes before I got sunglasses!
