OK...so I got a HRM the other day and have a couple of questions about what it's telling me.
The night I got it I read all of the liturature that came with it (not much) and played around with it.
Resting (ie: sitting in my recliner) heart rate was 57
Got on the bike (Raleigh C-40 Hybrid) and went for a 33 mile ride.
Climbing my first hill, around 8% for 1/2 mile in a high gear standing on the pedals, I got up to 172 before I ran out of steam and had to shift down at the top.
Cruising along at 19 mph, I was at 145 - 150 BPM and comfortable.
Climbed a similar hill near the end of the ride, I hit a max of 168, climbing in a low gear on the saddle.
I know the formula they give you in the instruction book is a W.A.G. at best, but it said I should have a max of 166, upper limit of 128 and a lower limit of 106 (figuring I'm an advanced user, whatever the he77 that is).
How can I tell if I'm getting a good workout using this thing, and probably more importantly, does it really matter as long as I feel good about my workout?
BTW I'm 41, 186 lbs (lost about 10 recently due to advice from you fine folks!) 5'10" if it matters
Thanks!
