What you do think: Who is the most underrated professional mountain biker? The person can be currently racing or retired. Just curious what everyone thought.

I think most non dj specialist pro freeriders are heavily underated myself. The claim they don't/can't pedal and are slow uphill is ridiculous. Or that they are less of a 'mountain' biker because of the way they ride.
As for specific names, no sure. I can think of some riders given too much credit for being godlike riders when in fact they aren't.

I don't think that he is underrated since he is only beginning to break into the pro scene. He was named specialized's #1 xc racer for 2005 and he's still young (22?) and may not have had the time to get the exposure that the older guys have, but I wouldn't say he's underrated.

Is he actually underated. Hes near god status amongst most xc guys I know, especially anyone who has ever considered riding 24 hours in a row :)

That was part of evidence to why he is still a great rider. I was part of "the greatest mt.biker" post trail ride discussion. I said Tinker, and the older guys were..."Remember him from the BMX days", and the new kids had no clue who he was. There were a few that remembered his early MTB carreer. Everyone seems to right him of in place of the likes of Ned.
Side note on that discussion: Of course there was someone that mentioned Lance. I had to correct them on that. Lance used to moonlight at some Texas Pschyocross races.

The trails I used to ride when I was a kid Tinker would frequent and he was smokin fast uphill I can tell you that. Never had the oppurtunity to watch him come back down but I can say he was an animal 15 years ago...probably more so of an animal now.

Not always the fastest, but able to ride up down, and anything tech. Hans doesn't get as much play as he used to, but still a great rider :)

Oh yeah, Hans is by far top 5 for the sport.
