Today we went to go watch my friend in a criterion. It was my first time watching a bike race (aside from the Tour on tv.) My 3 1/2 year old son really likes this friend so he came with me. Before we left my friend told us that at noon they were having a free kids' race so we should bring the bike and helmet.

My son just stopped using training wheels a couple of weeks ago and he was SO excited for his "race." It was so dang cute! They started about 100 yards away from the start/finish line (for the 5 and unders.) There was even one little tiny kid on a trike. I got that nice maternal warmth thing going on watching him spin those tiny little wheels. He had a great time and wanted to do it again immediately. I think he's hooked. Just wanted to share... I'm looking forward to when he gets a little bit older and we can go riding together.

Kids grow up fast. It won't be long until he will be riding with you. :) I've never been to a bike race. I think they all should have races for small children. ;)
