Training & Nutrition - Out of curiosity... how would I go about setting up a training schedule?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm really at a loss. I've never been very "training" or "exercise" oriented -- and since I'm buying a new bike (I think a Trek 7200) for commuting around campus, I may as well test the waters with using it as a means of exercise at the same time..
Is that feasible? Or should I just stick to the brand new student health facilities?

You can get a great workout just by riding. It doesn't have to be a set schedule, just ride. Ride fast and feel the burn.
But if you do go for a training plan... I started out after I read the Lance Armstrong 7 Step book, which helped.
