A couple of weeks ago I changed my diet around, stopped all grains, most sugars, and am eating more vegetables, eggs, meats, coconuts, flax oil, etc. (i.e. all natural, mostly raw if possible). I feel better and my stomach is flatter - I don't get that full/stuffed feeling anymore. I bought a 70-80 RPM juicer and juice wheatgrass and other vegetables. My god the taste is so incredibly and horribly bitter!!! Is there an way to naturally sweeten them? Wheatgrass is the most godawful bitter plant I've ever drank. Lettuce is a close second. Cucumbers are somewhat bearable. I haven't tried anything else yet. Any ideas from you vegetarians/vegans?

adding apple to carrot/celery juice etc is a good addition, seems to smooth it out nicley. Lethecin (sp) is also a good addition. maybee its a good idea to look up some recipies on the net, or look for a book on juicing at your lbs ( local book store! )

if you dont like wheatgrass, barleygrass is almost as good and hs a much more mild taste

cheers

wheat... barley... hopps... to hell with juicing, I'll just ferment them! :D

I'll toss in a carrot next time to see how it tastes. Would honey work?

Yeah wheatgrass will take your head off. Your not supposed to drink much of it though. Just a shot glass worth and tip it back!

For a long time I juiced just celery and cucumbers. It's not paticuarly sweet but you develop a taste for it. Carrots are deffinitely sweeter but too sweet for me. I went a bit hypoglycemic on carrot juice.

These day's I don't juice anymore as I'm a protein type anyway but it did it's job for a while.

Regards, Anthony

If you think wheatgrass is bitter you ain't going to like fresh hops. Honey may help mask the bitterness, but it won't cover it up. You'll have to try it you may or may not find it agreeable. Sweet is not the opposite of bitter. Sweetness and sourness balance each other. Bitter flavors can be balanced with salty flavors. You might want to try a tiny bit of salt just to take the edge off the bitterness. If you can taste the salt in your juice you add too much. Really though before you get too crazy trying different recipes. Let your tastes catch up with your new diet. Bitterness is an aquire taste. Over time you may begin to enjoy the bitter flavors.
