Hi! My name is Jamie, and I'm a roadie in the Port Huron, Michigan area. Nice to meet you in advance! =)
I'm not from this area, so I don't know where to ride around here. I'm not a super expert, so I try to stay away from the heavy traffic, fast roads. The problem is all the damn roads are dirt up here. It's crazy. I'm willing to drive 30 or 45 minutes to get some good biking opportunities.
It seemed like Canada had good country roads, and I thought maybe Macomb County had good roads (because it's closer to Detroit?). Where should I ride? Any help would be appreciated =)

Try Stoney Creek Metro Park, it's on the border of Macomb and Oakland Counties off 26 mile road and Mound. Lots of paved bike paths and even some awesome dirt trails for mountain bikes if you ever decide to go hit the dirt.

A lot of people in my club ride on this ride: http://www.lmb.org/crr/bwr2.ihtml. Often I will save the maps from an organized ride and then use the routes to ride again later at my convenience. In Michigan, lmb.org has links to all the road bicycle clubs in the state. You may want to visit their website and then contact some club members. When I go out of state, I usually contact someone on bikeforums, or do a google search for bicycle clubs in the area and then contact someone. It is very helpful to know which roads the local automobile traffic is "used" to seeing bicyclists on the road. I live in Novi and have not cycled in that area.

I was thinking about signing up for the Blue Water Ramble. I'm actually trying to get a new job and relocate out of this area, though, haha. But I guess $15 isn't that much money.
I went to Stoney Creek and had a good time. I also carved out a little 20-mile route of country roads that I can get to just by leaving my apartment, which is really nice. The roads are good because they are pretty desolate but can be bad because they are in ill-repair and the speeds are pretty fast. BUt I guess country roads tend to be fast. There are no shoulders.
