Training & Nutrition - Need to lose weight

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Could someone please tell me what is the most important factor when using cycling to lose weight. Is it time spent on a session or distance cycled?
I think both factors should be considered.Find a sustainable pace and cover as much distance as possible. Then you can work on increasing your pace.A slower pace burns more % of calories as fat while a faster pace burns more total calories/unit time and raises you metabolism higher so you burn more fat even after exercise. But in my opinion using a faster pace is a more advanced technique improved through training so I would begin on the slow to moderate side. Proper diet is also very important.

not an expert here, but I think what you eat, when you eat, and maintaining the appropriate optimal heart rate throughout your workout.
