I was cruizing through some old files and came across this pic. I was commuting to work last year and got caught in a snow storm. (w/home made studded snows, front and back)

Kind of funny. Today it is supposed to be in the low 90s and this weekend in the 100s. High humidity to boot!

This was a refreshing pic to find on a hot day like today.

unfortunately it doesn't quite work that way. I've been riding a CX bike this winter for the first time with 700 35 studs and this morning I finally found the limit; about 7 or 8 inches of loose crud and I just couldn't keep upright to get out my road. The wheels burrow in trying to find the bottom and its next to impossible to keep an even keel or even stay headed in an intentional direction. Previous winters I've been on an MTB and I really never ran into a snow condition that stopped me with 26in studs. Lesson: there are definitely conditions that call for flotation and 700X35s don't .
