Does anyone know of any races in the NY/NJ area coming up? I wanted to try out a time trial but have been unsuccessful in finding one in my area.

Where are you? There are races every weekend in Prospect Park. There's also the Tuesday night FBF races, Wednesday night track at Kissena. Lots of stuff in the NY Metro area. Check Racelistings (http://www.racelistings.com)
