Well here it goes, I live up here in Everett Washington just north of Seattle, where I work. I have been commuting for about 14 years now, and have become somewhat of an expert on micro fibers and layering. You have to be waterproof to ride around Seattle in January. I work in the shipping department of a marine supply warehouse right on Lake Union and the wonderful Burke Gillam trail. I just got into recreational cycling this last year and boy was I bit. I have completed 2 century rides (back to back) and but I really prefer the quick rides. Lucky for me I have some pretty senic areas right out my back door. Five minutes by cycle from my house and you are in farmland. :) I am really interested about bicycle advocacy, I look at us as part of a solution and not a problem. We do not cause the same damage to our infrasructure as do cars. So keep on pedling and Vote!

Welcome to the forum ngateguy! So how much yearly mileage are you putting in over there? What's your chain lube of choice for the weather you guys get, anyway? :)

last year lots of mileage I spent the year getting ready for the stp but my daily commute now is 14 miles on bike and 40 on bus I live in Everett and work in Seattle (Freemont). I was using Pedros wax this last winter to see how it did, attracted to much gunk. I am presently using Boeshield T-9. SO far so good. ( I do get it from work for free we distribute it and there is always a free sample some where around) it doeswn't attract a whole lot of grime stays pretty clean I lube every week but I think I could let it go to 2 weeks but why push it a well lubed chain is a :) chain. I will be in lovely Central Washington (Selah) this weekend meeting a new riding buddy. Hope the weather is good. We will be leaving early so we can get it done before it gets to hot how do you handle the heat? sorry it took so ling to answer you but I have been exploring this site I really have ewnjoyed it .

Boeshield is the only way to go ... I love the stuff. As for handling the heat, start drinking water 24/7 and try to ride early in the morning or late in the evening. Aside from my commute, I generally don't ride 'til about 7:30pm ... beautiful light and the temperature is perfect.
Welcome to the forum.
I haven't gotten myself to the point of doing a single century let alone 2 back to back. Way to go.

Welcome! I'm over in Spokane and happy to see another Washingtonian here! Wasn't the STP awesome! Great ride with great support. Next year you should try the Wenatchee Apple Ride. It's 50 miles out and 50 back. We ride along the Entiat river. They also feed you well.:)
Do you ever ride with the Cascade Bicycle Club?
