I picked up my new Allez Sport Monday night and have already ridden between 75 and 80 miles, including 30.5 miles yesterday morning. Rode with a neighbor and his dad. The last 3-4 miles were tough, but I made it! Almost got hit by an old man in a white van at the 28 mile mark, but otherwise a great ride. No ill effects unless you count wanting to do it again, only farther next time...

Planning to do the OKH ride from Louisville to Bardstown, and back, if I can get a few more 30+ mile rides in over the next few weeks.

Anyway, on with the the ride(s)! :D

It would be nice if I could do the Hilly Hundred in 2003...after the 30 miles from Newburgh to Elberfeld and back I was sore, but I could have ridden a few more miles... 100K in the local Great Pumpkin Metroc this October, the 100 Miles October 2003... I can do it...I hope... ;)

However, I am worried about making it 50 miles from Louisville to Bardstown on 9/7, then 55 back on 9/8...but you never no unless you try... To paraphrase Gretzky, 100% of the shots not taken don't go in...

Low gears with high cadence and you will do fine...As for the Hilly my signature shows the name of whoevers logged in.The Pumpkin Ride might be a good Indiana ride for you to shoot for this year. http://www.cris.com/~mheyes/bikeIN/october.html

Sorry I cant make it to the hilly hundred. Thats a little far away from home for me, since I live in New England. Plus with school/work/kids wouldnt be able to take the time to go out there any ways. I will have to settle for the flattest century in the east and the Seacoast century that are offered here. Both in September. Thanks for the invite though.

The OKH ride is a great ride but it's not easy. The first time I did it I swore Bardstown was on top of a mountain! All we did was climb uphill. Last year we had very strong winds. Alot of riders who planned to do 70+ bailed and did the 50. We did the 70 anyway.

The 50 on Sunday has more rolling hills and is easier.

My S.O. recommends if you haven't sent in your money put it off for a year or get lots of training in.

Don't miss the bourbon tasting on Sat.

My training plan includes intervals and hill climbs.

The Hope ride in Hope, In. on Sept. 21st is a good ride to do a century.

Try the BCBCBC here in Southwestern Ohio on Labor Day. It will give you a feel for the OKH.
