Professional Cycling - Wouldn't it be funny if OLN showed the Autobus?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just once I'd like to see "Sprinter Boy" McEwen or Clydesdale rider Magnus Backstedt bringing up the rear an hour behind the winner of a mountain stage for a change, wouldn't you ? :p :D

But, unfortunately it's always been like that with US TV broadcasting (olympics, soccer world cup, etc, etc). They only show what they think it's the most important, highlights and the like. In this case as long as they show the Discovery team arrive and the first 20 or so the rest it doesn't matter at all.
European TV I have to admit ismore fair and far more comprehensive.

Nah it's boring. Like they're all on a leisure ride. Many of them could probably finish much closer to the lead, but don't want to spend the energy.

This is such a misconception, in no way are the sprinters taking it easy. they have to make a time cut or else they are out. read any interview with almost any sprinter or anyone who ends up in the autobus and they will say that on the hardest stages of the tour, giro whatever that they have to work hard allllllll day. just because you cant go up the hills fast doesn’t mean that you get to take it easy.

Ah, but I used to love when they would show Richard Virenque at the back after he had clinched the KOM. He would pantomime kicking back and smoking a cigar while still riding down the road on his bike. That would crack me up everytime I'd see it.
