I am building a second set of wheels for my Waterford. It has canti brakes and according to Waterford it can fit 37C tires. I was thinking more like 28-32C range. It is Campy equipped so I was thinking of using some old Chorus 32 hole hubs I have. What kind of rim would the experts recommend?

mavic cxp33 with stainless straight guage spokes(dt swiss 2.0 or 2.35) laced 3 cross - very strong wheels

Open Pro's or CPX33, they both have the same double eyelet construction, CPX33's weigh a bit more because of a deeper cross section.

Mavic Elites are stronger then pretty much any wheel you can build and by the time you spend the money on good hubs and rims and the cost of building them you can almost find a set of Elites.

I dissagree, I'll take my Velomax over your Mavics any day :P

Just go with whatever you like, they're all good, any 28 to 32 spoke wheel would work fine. I had CXP22s on my bike before I went to Velomax Sagitas, the mavics worked fine I just love the velomax's.

Thanks, I scored both frames off of ebay. The blue RSE set me back $450 shipped with a headset installed. The 1200 I bought complete and am rebuilding. It just came back from the painter and I'm waiting to have the frame prepped to I can start the build.

I just (one month ago) built up a rear wheel with an XT 36 spoke hub on a DT Swiss RR1.1 rim with some 2.35 DT Swiss spokes, brass nipples and had it tied and soldered. This wheel seems very strong (at least as strong as my OpenPro that I tacoed in a wreck). I am still running the OpenPro (also 36 spoke) on the front end. I am currently using "the Disease" (my bike) as a commuter/road bike (around 100 miles a week).

Take this for what it's worth, I haven't raced on it yet (duh!). I will start training here in Tucson in October (the training will just makes me want to move back to Oregon).
