View Full Version : OLN TdF Commercials, Thanks Cervelo!
Watching the TdF coverage everyday on OLN, I'm was getting a bit tired of the same ads for Quaker State motor oil, Bow Flex Tread Climber, Discover Boating.CA, Bow Flex Tread Climber, Post Raisin Crunch, Bow Flex Tread Climber...etc.
Seeing the Cervelo ads now playing has been much appreciated. Its cool to see an ad directly related to what I'm watching, and hearing David Z sing that Mississippi song is funny. It's too bad we dont see more specific bicycle product/manufactures advertise more during the TdF.
What ads are other viewers around the world seeing, and are they played with the same repetition as I'm seeing?

I see ads for T-Mobile, Gerolsteiner, T-Mobile, alcohol-free beer, T-Mobile, T-Mobile, Gerolsteiner and T-Mobile again over here ;)
The Cervelo commercial was pretty cool. Can't wait until they release the documentary.

Awesome, thanks! The trailer looks very compelling... What is the release date and where will it be shown? Obviously it will be on DVD as well?

Is it Cervelo that has the commercial of the boy riding the road bike ala TDF, with the Red Devil chasing him, tourists on the roadside cheering him, etc..? I like that one best so far.

This is the most pathetic thing about the sports press in Canada..if it doesn't have a puck, they don't care.
While a Cervelo rider had the yellow, all the puckheads could report on in the Globe and Mail was the business aspects of hockey for pages and pages-who G-A-F, especially in July.
While the bikes are designed in Toronto, assembled in Burlington, the frames are built in Taiwan, there's no way you could get that mass production build quality in Canada. Team frames are hand built outside of Toronto. There's a great story of Cervelo of just two guys doing innovative engineering research from scratch, and in a little over a decade, the yellow at TDF. I was so impressed at these bikes I bought one.
It was a very big deal for Cervelo to afford those spots, that's why the ads are only 10 seconds.

I'm waiting for the Carbon Soloist in the Fall. They're like heroin dealers, the first taste is cheap, then they get you a few months down the road...

Yeah those are funny...
The Range Rover ads just drive me nuts though... equating driving with physically challanging events... and the guy never even goes off road. Just exemplifies all the problems of car culture.

Sorry to hear :(
Cervelo runs 2 ads:
1) Has David Zabriskie singing a song about the Mississippi in an Italian soprano type tone, while images of the team riding run in the back gorund.
2) Has David Z riding a ITT with the camera in chase view. He is thinking to himself (which is the audio track) to try and keep up with the motor bike ahead of him, telling himself he can keep up and catch it. Text below fashes that he rode the fastest ITT in the Tour.

Surely all you 'net junkies can find these online somewhere. You all were able to find all the Nike and Lance stuff last year on some of those sweet advertisement sites. Please post a link if any of you have any success.
That, or I guess I could tape tonights coverage here in TO. :D
Thanks in advance.

Both rough cuts can be found here http://www.cervelo.com/mediacentre.aspx
Watching the ITT, I realize it may be the people in the team car cheering DZ on :)

You're welcome :) There are some good videos and media there including DZ's ITT filmed form the team car. Excellent Wallpaer as well.
Man the more I visit Cervello, the more my Next bike may have to be just because I like the way they do things and they are Canadian :)

Trek Lucky 7
Specialized Levi
Giro helmets (I like this one. Phil Liggett and Didi Senft - my two favorite Tour personalities)
Mitchum ("If shaving your legs does nothing to diminish your masculinity, you're a Mitchum Man")
-and strangely enough, lots of ads for SUV's... go figure
Last few years I had satellite, and got sick of those Bowflex ads also.
This year I've got cable, and no Bowflex at all... sweet!

does the other bow flex guy drive anyone else nuts ???? "i lost 115lbs.... bla bla"... but then he says something that doesn't even make sense "i can't beleive as good as i look i feel now".... GRAMMAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD DAMN IT, think they could at least get him to read the script cards right.
Yeah those are funny...

Totally agree -- the RR ads are annoying.
Worst ads:
(1) Comcast ad where older Asian man makes goofy expressions while dancing to rap music
(2) The RR ad, mentioned above
(3) Survivor ads that mention "that naked guy" over and over and over.
Best ads:
(1) I like the T-mobile ad where a dude is being tortured by using up his minutes. "Is this the DMV?" "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
(2) I like the Fosters commercial where the girlfriend has thrown the guy out. Does anyone know? Does she call him a "f__ckhole?
(3) Expedia ad where frumpy office worker dreams of the Australian dude coming in for an extra towel.

LOL! We definitely get different ads here. Fosters, AMD, Range Rover, Pacific Life, more Fosters plus others I've managed to (thankfully) forget. I did see that Giro one (only once, sadly) but not the Cervelo one.

stupid Foster Lager ads, you know fu*k ball/I forgive you, some dumb ***** car ad, where the car is supposedly as breath taking as being outside, Vespa USA, a thousand
other car commericials, Nike ads, OLN ads for barbeque and survivor, (OLN, ONLY
