Hello fellow bike buddies,
I was cruising the 'hood the other day and noticed a guy selling bikes out of his front yard. He had a Schwinn 6 speed hybrid that I am considering buying. I wish I could remember the model but it escapes me at the moment. I've looked all over and I can't seem to find any info whatsoever on this bike, or even if Schwinn ever made a bike like that. Maybe this guy took a Schwinn MTB frame and put 700c wheels on it, I don't know. I'm curious if any of you Schwinn experts out there have any experience with this type of bike. How much would it be worth in good condition, give or take?
Thanks

That doesn't ring a bell. Do you recall the model name at all?
perhaps one of the many sites on Google will give you the answer

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=schwinn+bicycles++serial+numbers
and these sites for Taiwan Scwhinns

By 6-speed, do you mean it has an internal six speed hub? If yes, buy the bike for $50.00

I went over to the guy's house today after work and he tells me he sold it. I could have sworn that I saw it near the back of his shop, but I didn't want to argue with him. I think he was p-ssed because I didn't buy it when I had the chance. To answer your question Mike it had 6 cogs in the back and one ring in the front. No internal hub or anything like that. I have a feeling this bike was a mutt and it's probably just as well I didn't wast my $$ on it. Thanks anyway for the help! :thumbup:

If you liked the look, I have a 1970 Schwinn Collegiate five speed I will sell you cheap. It looks neat and is a very smooth rider - good for commuting, shopping, or cruising the neighborhood. Lots of chrome!
