View Full Version : Favorite TdF 2005 Post?
It may be a bit early, but do you have a favorite post here on BikeForums for this TdF?
I would nominate the post that suggests that instead of posting on bikeforums the Director Sportif for TMobile should be thinking about how to get his team to work together on some attacks the next day.
Ok Ok is Walter The Walter of TMobile or not..If so hes up at around 4am on an important race day worrying about posts on Bike forums rather than sleeping or tending to his flock.. If he is The Walter G than maybe he cant sleep and is posting for some R+R and saying things to some of us here in a way that he only wishes that he could say to some of his riders..Maybe we could have a board vote on this.. Will the real Walter Godefroot please stand up..
I like the ones about Vinokourov's colors. I read those all day.

Anything by alanbikehouston. Each one made me bust a gut laughing with how much he thinks he knows about the tour and what slackers all the contenders are because they can't will themselves past Lance. That, and I knew Laggard wouldn't be far behind telling him to go away. It was good advice, but alas, to no avail yet.

How quickly this has devolved into a vicious attack thread...

fore0121,
You forgot to add Devil as another guy stalking ABH's every post.
No, this is not a personal attack, you will see that I have also had issues with ABH's posts but Devil and Laggard are seldom far from any of his posts..

Wow shes a stunner.
Wonder how many bike accidents she has caused on Basso training rides with his team. I can see it now as they pedal by the team car on the side of the road, she waves to her brother and the rest of the team goes down like dominos.
Idiots who compare pro bike racing to NASCAR.
Nice photo, BTW. I'd hit that!

Mazzolini was taped during a phone tap with his Doctor Carlo Santuccione, known in the Peleton as "Ali the Chemist", speaking in code about andriol and concerns about his hematocrit, and EPO saying he "took 4000 units subcutaneously and was racing on saturday, would he be ok"
Nice.... Basso's sisters going to marry a doper, but hey, who isn't on something.
This guy is Dilucas Doctor as well.

Is Michael Rasmussen a corpse?
Yes, you didn't know that? He's the 'ghost with the most', the 'stricken chicken', the 'dead king of the
mountains', the 'polkageist'... George Romero apparantly has plans to film a biography of Raz next year.
No, seriously, he's just a strict weight weenie... :D
I also agree that DocRay's post Wife Bonks on Stage 16 is pretty strong.

Just out of curiosity... are you part of the EPO police... Where do you get your info??

press releases, news clips, and some friends involved in the sport. I get info from a lot of sources. You guys would be surprised how many amateurs and div II guys get busted, all the time, how many Pro Tour team members are involved in court cases, extraditions etc... The deeper you dig, the uglier it really gets.
A lot of court docuements have been made public, but they are hard to find, and not translated to English, and it usually older info, about guys who have retired recently. They were heros to me when I was younger, so a lot of it is depressing too.

I guess I have never paid much attention to doping but for the occasional allegation popping up in the news or something that makes a splash in the international stage..:(

I really enjoyed the one that stated all T-Mobile needed to do was constantly attack Lance...first send Kloden and make Lance chase, then send Vino, then Ullrich and Lance would crack. It seemed to suggest that attacking Lance was as easy as falling off a log.
I'm pretty sure it was Devil but I can't be 100% sure.
The one where I had to come up with my favorite post in the TDF. That was classic.

But don't you think that would have done it? Clearly Lance wouldn't have chased Kloden unless he was more of a GC threat, etc., but it seems like Rasmussen, Ullrich, Basso et al could have certainly put him under some pressure.

I like all the crap Allan gets about not knowing anything about bike racing. They always remind me of that old Saturday Night Live phrase "Jane you ignorant slut."

Both Golden Moments. First one for a full thread of clever comments from BF members, second one for best single statement. Chickenpockistan had me laughing out loud.
and Damn, that Basso woman is hot. Thanks for that pic!

No. I don't even think it was possible. Look at it this way...let's say Basso attacks, Lance isn't the only guy who needs to go after him and the rest of the guys are going to get just as burnt (or more so) than he is...OK, for the sake of argument let's say Ullrich has enough in him to counter attack once they bridge up to Basso...Basso will be toast and Ullrich is gambling that Lance will crack...it sure didn't look to me like that was going to happen.
In order for an attack to work you must at least be as fit as the guy you are attacking so you can break him...IMO, none of those guys had it in them. It looked to me that they tried to put him under pressure but he had a response every time.
Yeah, I agree with you. I was just waiting for the stage to start and the Lance Chronicles was on and I was struck on how both in this year's first ITT and in the Alpe D'Huez time trial, Lance passed each of his chief rivals. That shows a lot of dominance.
Given that, what do you think are the odds are that his success is not completely natural - that there is a chemical component? Reading Lance Armstrong's War by Daniel Coyle, he is certainly leaning that way.
