Does anyone have a link to some sites that sell derailers? I have a 2002 Specialized Hardrock, and my derailer needs to be replaced, because it keeps getting bent or something. I can't seem to find any places on the net that sells them.

Is it your derailleur or your derailleur HANGER?

If the hanger, go back to where you bought the bike, or any authorized Specialized dealer can get you one!

I think it's the hanger. Is that the thing that goes around the chain? Sorry I'm dumb, but at least I know I'm dumb.

It sounds like it might just need to be adjusted. I'd take it to your LBS (local bike shop) and have them look at it.

Is this a new bike? How new? If you recently bought it, or bought it a while ago but haven't used it much, chances are it needs it's initial tune-up.

New cables (shifter and brake) will stretch as they get used. New bikes need a good tune-up after an initial break-in period. This usually occurs after a month of regular riding, or about 75-100 miles. Most shops offer this as a free service either one time, one month, many up to the first year and a select few shops for the life of the bike!

Start there and let them diagnose your problem.

It's hard to figure it out without seeing and riding your bike!

I bought in in April, and it has not really been riden until recently. I have taken it in for a few adjustments, and they are the one's that keep telling me the derailer is bent. I'll call them about it. Thanks

I'd perhaps drop it by another shop in town. If the shop told you it was bent, why didn't they fix(replace) it? Did you refuse the service?

I ask, because if you're planning on replacing it yourself. A rear derailleur isn't an easy thing to do. It's not overly complicated, but requires some patience. If you decide to do this yourself, I'd suggest www.parktool.com they have an area that's a "HOW - TO" that will help you in this endeavor!
