I'm trying to understand the subtleties of pro racing and I was wondering about this. By many measures, Vinokourov has had a great season to be seeking a new contract: a win in the Liege-Bastogne-Liege, a Tour stage win and a top ten finish. However, given the pre-Tour buzz about him, that he might be the guy to knock off Lance this year, has he helped or hurt himself with his Tour performance?
