The other day I was riding home trying to make it back before dark when this guy in a truck told me to pull over. When pulling over I saw that this guy must be a cyclist guru due to all the cycling logos and stickers on the back window of his truck. He thought I had ''potential'' and was surprised that I was only 16. He has ridden with Lance Armstrong before in Austin, TX and showed me a photo of himself, Lance, and Greg Lemond! Along with a few other cycling photos. So I am soon to begin training with him and I guess we'll see where that will get me. I've been riding for a little over a month and have absolutely fallen in love with the sport. I averaged a little over 20 mph for a rolling hills 30 mile course. Am I good or does he need to get a little more often?

I'm 30 and pulled a century at just less than 21 MPH and I don't have anyone knocking down my door to train me. I think your skill is great with so little time involved, but I would be suspicious of anyone offering his or her services with such generosity to a complete stranger. Especially a minor. I'm not saying forget the whole thing, just get your parents involved and be sure to check this guy out before spending any time with him. Stickers and pictures are easy to come by.

I'm not sure I would have pulled over.

But then again, I don't think my cycling skills would attract any positive attention from a potential trainer either.
