I'm trying to come up with a comparison between the cannondale CAAD 5 frame and a Cinelli Proxima. Does anyone have any input they can share on the build, performance, integrity of these frames ?

Thanks.

They are both good but different. Go ride them and decide.that's the only way.

... and if you're buying a frame... well, it's hard to ride just a frame...

Well... the Proxima is Cinelli's bottom race frame. It's a nice bike, though, made of Columbus Zonal tubing. It has a good reputation, and the frame does come with a nice Columbus CF fork, headset, a good quality stem and handlebar. However, it is only available in four sizes, so getting an exact fit might be difficult.

On the other hand, the 'dale is just the frameset, but it's nearer the top of the line and sized in 2 cm increments.
