I think all of those anti-cycling articles and columns were pretty stupid.
But, to be honest, as a journalist, columnist and a journalism educator, I think O'Grady is full of *****. At least as full of it as all those other columnists. I think I see what he's trying to do, but he's such a bad writer [about as bad as the columnists whose work he mentions] his reach definitely exceeds his grasp.

I think the writer of this article makes a valid point (although he could have expressed it better). The only way to make the anti-cycling articles go away is to simply ignore them and stop reading them.

Yes, ignore it... but that piuos garbage about columnists as terrorists is pure moronitude. He should have made his point without trying to be clever.

Agreed. Unfortunately, he seems to be infected with the same ideas about attracting readers as the writers he was criticising - i.e. the desire to be known as a "shock jock".

VP, you certainly have the right, given your area of expertise, to measure a columnist to a higher standard.
Wth the H.S. Thompson quote, and the statement that he may just be trying to score some letters to the Ed. for himself, that he doesn't intend to be taken too seriously.
Personally, I savored, on a purely emotional level, his shots at the "beleaguered motorist", terrorist columnists, and even "cyclists with thinner skins than a ballpark frank". He!!, we all know what Borges, O'Grady, et.al., are up to.
