Hey everyone, Im building some dirt jumps in a field I have, I was just wondering what's the best way to judge how far to put the landing slopes. The jumps are going to be from 3 feet - 7 feet in height probably.

I usually build the jump first with the lip i want, then i visualize from like 10 feet away where i think ill land. Then build the landing with the appropriate pitch. Then make sure everything is going to hold and just go for it. For me its all a gut feeling on how much speed ill need.

What he said, but you can also make a larger landing slope (usually about twice the size of the take-off ramp). But this won't work if you're trying to make rhythm jumps.

a general guid line is a 1:3 hight to distance ratio, however you can make your take off first, jump it, then get someone to mark where you back tire landed. then make your landing a little short of that. But if you jump is big than youll be in for a hard landing so in that case, do what norcodirtjumper said , or use the ratio.
