which kind of crank set would you recomend ( that could be fixed or dual chain ring )?
So if I decided fixed is not for me - I would not need to buy a whole new crankset?
Thanks for the input ,
John

If you're doing a conversion, just use the crankset already on the bike.

see that is my big question , I am building a fixed frame ( off of a raleigh 90's frame ) - with no crank set.
So do I buy a set that is for single/track or a set that could be both? - does that make sense?
Thanks again ,
John

you can find a used double road crankset (shimano sora, tiagra, 105, sugino 75, etc) for cheap on ebay or CL.

these use standard 130 bcd rings, which are also available for cheap. pick up a mid-sized ring for fixed and save the 39/53 if you want to go back.

There's no reason why they wouldn't, plus they are really nice cranks. Ritchey WCS is sweet stuff, although their Pro line is nothing to sneeze at. You may need to get SS chainring stack bolts (shorter) if you decide you just want one chainring on there at a later point.
