General Cycling Discussion - I am the expert, because I can type.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

OK we're all bike experts because we can turn on a computer and click on bike forums. What's the worst advice you've read on this forum. (never know might even be mine, couldn't be because I can ride bike too)

I can't recall reading any bad advice.
Maybe I don't agree with everything but that doesn't make the advice or opinion bad. :)

Ok not bad, how about, wrong, dangerous, incorrect. Such as (washing your parts in gasoline or worse etc.., what to say to a cop), maybe we're just too good.

I recommended a Giant OCR 1 over a Cannondale CAAD frame a little while ago, when I have actually done some research on both, knew the 'dales were nice frames, and that the Giant was suspect.

IMO that was pretty bad advice.

What...my advice or the Giant?? :D

Neither one I guess is that bad, but I knew better. :crash:

BTW...which one did you end up getting?

There's a thread with conflicting opinions going on right now in nutrition section. Seems there may be more than one Max Heart Rate depending on what activity one is engaged in according to some.

I went with the Cannondale R700 :D

But to my unfortunate surprise, I was no longer able to get them through 'prodeals' since they stopped making them...so I'll wait a few months to get their 2003 R1000 :D

Not much bad advice here, most people are very intelligent and mature about what they say. One thing does come to mind though. Some guy made a thread about how you shouldnt buy Specialized Al frames just because his broke. Eventually he changed his mind but that was probably the only piece of bad/false information on here that i can think of.

The principal conflict in nutritional advice is in the protein/carbs./fats ratio, which varies from 10-80-10 (Pritikin) through 30-40-30 (zone) to 30-20-50 (Atkins). High-carb. diets are great for the aerobically active, such as many of us, but they can turn couch potatoes into type II diabetics. Conversely, I have severe reservations about the long-term health effects of sustained low-carb. eating.

Some idiot recommended "space food" instead of power bars.
