Is when you have girly-man noodle legs and have to make your pedals go 200 rpm to go 10 mph because you can't pound those pedals and zoom like a real HE-MAN.

I'll see you in 5 years after your ACL surgery.

I think a general answer about spinning(if your referring to riding out on the road as opposed to riding a bike in a room) is riding in a gear that is 2 or maybe 3 cogs easier than what you would normally ride in.

Essentially it has to do with keeping a high cadence with your legs. It's supposed to be easier on your knees than if you were to push harder gears.

Most people just ride their bikes, and don't worry about what the fashionable-term-of-the-day is, or whether they're riding "just like lance". Just have fun out there. :)

If you're closer to 100 RPM than, say, 60-70, you're spinning.

It can also mean indoor cycling on a fixed gear bike that has a 40 pound flywheel. Typical spinning classes will simulate hill climbs and sprints for short periods and generally last 45 minutes to an hour. It's a pretty good workout but it ain't like riding outdoors.

Spinning is the art of using each leg/foot to power the pedals through a complete 360 degree revolution. Spinning makes for an efficient low stress means to get power from the human body to the bicycle cranks. With spinning there are no "dead spots" in the pedal stroke.

Bent's got it right. I've always had mighty quads, but had to work into the 360-degree spin in order to keep up with the young whippersnappers.
