General Cycling Discussion - Do you get jealous...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

.. when you're not riding (say walking around or driving or eating lunch outside somewhere) and see someone else riding about? I don't know what it is (maybe it's an addiction) but I get rather envious of other riders, even if I've cranked out 100-140KM for a day ride and see someone else riding.
Sigh.
I suppose it's better to have this as an addiction than say alcohol or drugs or something... but damn! :D

Those every day riders I see often do not get me jealous as I could be doing the same within a day's time or so. But I do get envious of self-supported multi-day, week, month, or whatever bike tourers that I see from time to time on their loaded touring bikes as this is something that I can only do on very rare occassions due to time restrictions. :(

Its a mix of jealousy with a feeling that as long as people are out riding bikes or making music or creating something beautiful the world may not be totally going to hell in a rowboat.
I get so jealous that I want to run over and punch them in the face, steal their bike, and FINALLY satisfy my craving for the day.
Okay, not that bad :D but I do a little, "Awww, that could be me!"

Yesss!
The worst for me is when the weather is perfect, and I am stuck inside or stuck in the car or something. We took a (car) roadtrip out to CA to visit relatives, and we're leaving the state, coming home, stuck in road-construction near Tahoe, and I saw this guy (http://conventioncostumes.asyoulikeitkc.com/gallery/albums/travels/102_0233_001.jpg) , and my heart about broke. Lucky dude was out there on the perfect day, just whipping on by some amazing scenery.
The whole trip, I kept seeing cyclists everywhere. Tooling up and down the mountain roads, zipping through my aunt's hometown. It was like a rider's paradise, and me without my bike. *sigh*

yup, l
ike dynaryder said, for me it seems like I'm the only one around here that rides crazy fast. Everyone else seems to ride at a moderate pace

This past winter I was out running some errands in my car on a day that I thought was too cold for riding when I saw someone out on his bike with a big smile on his face. As soon as I got home I changed into my cold weather gear and took off on my bike. Turns out it was a glorious day for riding. If you can't beat them, join them.
Yes I do on many occassions. That's what my folding bike is for. This way I'll have a bike all the time.
Do I ever. I want to be the one riding, not doing something else!

Tonight as I was leaving the restaurant I saw two cyclist and wished I was riding...there is such a nice greenway downtown
Yes! Today I'm recovering from some nasty road rash on my left side (back, elbow,
knee) and I go BOO HOO HOO! I'm not riding!!! Mostly because my knee feels like a
bad sunburn, all puckery and tight. It was hard enough being a work, in long pants(after an 11 day vacation) but right now it (knee) doesn't feel ready to ride.
