General Cycling Discussion - an interesting rebuttal

I don't know if this was posted before
but this is the best rebuttal of the two
recent editorials slamming cycling.

you know, if Bicycling keeps up this kind of
writing it just may become a good magazine.

Very well written response to both articles

Humorous as well, although the middle section was somewhat weak.

I saw that guy trying to defend himself on TV. This article really rips him a good one.

You are right. This is pretty high quality stuff for Bicycling Mag.

Quite right I think.

Just as email spammers want you to follow the remove instructions on their messages. All you do is validate your email address so they can brag that the list has that many more valid addresses who responded when they sell the list to someone else.

These type of journalists count (not read) the responses and brag about how many people read their column!

A perfect bicycling magazine would be one in which all of its revenue comes from magazine sales and subscriptions. That way, the magazine would have to constantly deal with the issues of real cyclists rather than primarily with the issues of advertisers. Agreed. Unfortunately, advertisers generally spend more money on this sort of thing. Think about it, once you've read that "training article" or that "maintenance tip" a certain number of times, what incentive is there to actually buy the magazine anymore. There's far better information to be found on this forum here.
