Well today I got my pedals and shoes, and I went out and clipped myself. So far no falls, but I must say I LOVE THEM! I only did 7 miles, 92 degrees, 85% humidity, and thunder, but it was far enough to know I am in love. I am looking forward to tomorrow, another 90+ day, and high humidity. Gotta love Ohio. Anyhow thanks for everyone’s advice, I do read them all.
Happy as heck.

- clipped one bike this weekend... will clip the road bike tomorrow...
- i like them! and you don't have to spend a lot of money! i have purchased extra cleats though, as there is potential gravel damage at the staging area where i ride... (cheap insurance to have an extra set of $8 SPD cleats on hand, right?)
- good for you! here's to lengthy trackstands at stops! (i can manage 30 secs + if i have waggle room)

I'm new to clipless recently, too. They help me a lot on the nasty climbs. When I start getting really ragged and tired, I start doing arc drills: I concentrate on applying pedaling force at different and distinct parts of the pedaling arc. This always seems to help me forget my pain and keep on cranking.
So far, I've taken two falls - one with witnesses; one without. :o (Hey! I guess I don't have to count the second one!)
Enjoy!
Good riding,

One thing I've noticed. I tend to fall over when I'm at a dead stop and off balance. If I cuss alot, I tend to stay up, the fouler the language, the better my balance :D Hmmmm, what do you think that means???
