so my benotto is supposedly made in mexico, which i assumed would mean it would have an ISO bottom bracket. apparently though it has an italian bottom bracket. would benottos, after being moved to mexico, still be built with an italian bottom bracket?

Well, there isn't such a thing as a Mexican BB so I assume, in keeping with most Italian framemakers, the shell is indeed, kept Italian. Pride, history, tradition and so on.

I have a Mexican produced Benotto that takes a standard BB. I would imagine it depends when the frame was manufactured. My Benotto, for example, has gas pipe lugs and gorgeous details such as a fake chrome fork crown and metallic looking stickers applied on top of the paint. Perhaps some of the high end models from their lineup had Italian BB's?

Poor workmanship over the years. When Bennotto was made there years ago quality was on par but kept breaking at the lugs. Now it is all jacked up.

Ceya - My Benotto is older. Judging from the numbers stamped on the BB shell, an '84. I haven't been able to find out much about it overall though. I'm thinking about taking pictures and sending them to Benotto and seeing what they can tell me.

Take some pictures and show us! I am very close to buying a Benotto 1600 here at a vintage shop as it has some nice embossed features that would like nice when shined up. You could always post some pics in the Classic/Vintage forum too, those guys are masters.
