BMX - fickle

so today i did an exreriment. i put my front brakes back on for the first time in like a year just to see if my riding improved. well, turns out i ride better without them, even front wheel tricks. so i checked out my back brake system and thought "what a sorry piece of crap from hell" so i revamped it. i threw out my sst oryg, cuz whats the point of my dragonfly cable if i have an oryg on the bottom section??? so i put on 2 slic cables running next 2 eachother and left out the bridge cable and just crossed them into the arm bolts. then i went & got some brake pads, and bought some of the weirdest brake pads i have ever seen. they are like half the weight, have only 1 spacer and its like a half millimeter thick, and a hex bolt going into the pad itself. turns out ty\hey are perfectly shaped to my rear rim so no setting is neccessary. they have the stopping power of close to a flippen disc brake. i have never had such amazing braking on a bike with a gyro before. i couldn't believe it. i have a couple questions now having said all that:
1. is that dual slic cables to the rear called a london mod? if not, whats a london mod?
2. am i better off if i ride better with no front brakes or is it entirely prefrence?
3. and totally off the topic, how strong are cf stem spacers?
any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Unless your Oryg is bent, there's no reason it should perform poorly, assuming you know how to set a gyro up properly. I have a $10 Oryg on one bike and a $60 GTX-R on the other and don't notice any difference other than bling factor.

So now...let me try to wrap my mind around this: you're running dual cables to the rear brake and NO gyro? I shouldn't need to tell you how pointless that is. Moving on...

The stopping power of your brakes is less a factor of pad compound and rim finish than how good you are at setting them up and maintaining them. I can set the same pair of pads up to feather forever or pitch me over the bars at the slightest tap. Now for the questions...

1. A London Mod is a little machined aluminum bitty that turns a single cable stop into dual cable stops. They were invented by London Bikes and sold to Odyssey. Dual lower cables are a common setup with a gyro, but they're a ***** to set up and maintain.

2. Front brakes are only a benefit if you're committed to making them work for you. They're not going to instantly turn you into a front wheel pro. Neither is running without them necessary for learning hang-5s and Karl cruisers.

3. Since I don't know ANYONE who's ever destroyed a headset spacer I have no way of knowing.

Did someone mention CF headset spacers?

Dual lower cables are a common setup with a gyro, but they're a ***** to set up and maintain
